title: Send Letter | PostGrid
description: Configure sender, recipient, template, and mailing options to send a letter via PostGrid in a Make.com scenario.
---

To send a letter through PostGrid, you need to provide both sender and recipient information, along with details about the mailing itself.

## Sender and Recipient requirements

For letters, both **Sender** and **Recipient** Information are required.

You have options to fill in First Name, Last Name, and Company Name. At least one combination is required, either **First Name & Last Name** or **Company Name**.

Next, you need to complete the address information, which includes **Address Line 1**, Address Line 2, **City**, **State**, **Postal Code**, and **Country Code** .

Please note that the Country Code must be provided in the [two-character ISO31661 Alpha-2 format](https://www.iban.com/country-codes)

## Mailing requirements

In addition to sender and recipient details, you must also define the specifics of your mailing.

**Description** field is used internally to help you identify the letter later.

**Template Source** determines how your letter is generated. You can choose any of the following options:

- **HTML**: You can enter the letter template HTML code in the Template Value.
- **PDF URL**: You can put the publicly accessible PDF URL in the Template Value
- **PostGrid Template ID**: You can put the Template ID of a template you’ve created in your PostGrid account. You can learn more about PostGrid Template Editor [here](/print-and-mail/dashboard/using-our-built-in-template-editor/index.md).

Also, please note that your template should follow PostGrid Design Guidelines for print readiness, which you can find [here](/print-and-mail/dashboard/design-and-templates#letter-guidelines/index.md).

You will also need to choose the **Address Placement**, which controls whether the recipient’s address is printed on the first page of your letter or on a separate cover page automatically added to the document.

PostGrid also allows you to configure printing preferences. You can select whether the letter is printed **single-sided** or **double-sided**, in **color** or **black and white**, or **Perforate First Page**

For delivery, you must choose one of the available **Mailing Classes**. You can learn more about different mailing classes [here](/print-and-mail/dashboard/tracking/mailing-options-from-first-class-to-express-shipping/index.md).

If you have already set up a **Return Envelope** with PostGrid, you can include it in your letter by adding the Return Envelope ID. You can learn more about Return Envelope [here](/print-and-mail/dashboard/sending-mail/creating-your-first-return-envelope-order/index.md).

## Personalized letters

Finally, PostGrid supports personalization by letting you add **Merge Variables** to your template. You can map the variables you have defined in your template to actual data fields in your scenario. Up to ten key-value pairs can be configured for this purpose, enabling highly tailored content for each recipient.
